COPYWRITING

What is copywriting?

Copywriting is the art of selling a product or service through the written word. This can be the text you might find in a brochure, on the landing page of a website, on a media release or in your emails.

So, why is copywriting important to your business?

Effective copy is essential for every kind of business. From finance to construction, fashion to travel, every industry has something to gain from well written copy.

And why? Because words can be used as a call-to-action, enticing people to buy your product. Copy is the driving force that persuades your customer to take the next step.

What are the different types of copywriting?

There are many different types of copywriting. A lot of them tend to overlap, as well. This is why it is ideal to find a copywriter who is skilled in multiple types, and can spread themselves across-the-board. Some of the types include:

Creative Copywriting: Creative copy is artfully written. It is designed to tell a story or convey a unique concept to the reader. A creative copywriter knows how to expertly tailor their words to really carry a brand.

SEO Copywriting: This covers copy that is written with the purpose of ranking higher in search engine results. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) writing focuses on keywords, readability tactics, text length and link building to bring a client’s product to the first page of Google (or other such search engines). This will, in turn, result in more organic traffic and conversions.

E-Commerce Copywriting: Writing for e-commerce is just as its name suggests: writing copy for online retailers. The focus is on the business’ website, the copy on their landing pages and the copy used to describe their products.

Technical Copywriting: This kind of copywriting is reserved for those who are able to write in regards to a specialised field. It requires expert knowledge and familiarity of jargon terms. A technical writer will be able to translate this kind of terminology into simpler, easy to read copy.
